Concerned authorities have been urged to wade in an alleged defamation case involving two Journalist in Kwara .
It is recalled that the Chief Press Secretary to Kwara state Governor Mallam Rafiu Ajakaye, through a petition letter to the Commissioner of Police had accused the duo of Dare and Abdulrasheed Akogun of defamation and inciting the public against the government.
Ajakaye said Abdulrasheed posted a comment on a popular WhatsApp platform, accusing the government of the day of being most corrupt and facilitating fifteen million naira to prosecute the last election of the Nigerian Union of Journalist. Although the duo ,Dare Akogun and his brother AbdulRasheed Akogun insists they posses evidence to defend their case .
Respondents who spoke with Royal Times said journalists who are the voice of the people cannot be friends of the government and must not be treated as criminals.
Some of the respondents also opined that the cheif press secretary to the kwara state governor ,Rafiu Ajakaye also has the right to seek legal refuge in the case of defamation to clear his name.They also called on the Kwara state police command to remain neutral in the matter.
A Magistrate court had since last week ordered the remand of the duo at mandala correctional center .
Dare, a news editor with Sobi FM and his brother, Abdulrasheed, the publisher of Fresh Insight, will continue their trial before Magistrate Bio Salihu today ( Wednesday ).
