The Kaduna State Government said it has begun the distribution of over two hundred and thirty thousand free uniforms to students of public schools in the state for both junior and senior secondary schools.
The Commissioner for Education, Dr Shehu Makarfi, has made the disclosure during the distribution, today at the Government Secondary School, Kachia Urban.
Makarfi said all public school students in the state would be provided with free uniforms.
The Commissioner further added that the gesture was part of the government’s efforts to support parents in providing quality education to children in the state,adding that the government was not only providing free uniforms but equally providing textbooks, quality teachers, school furniture and conducive environment for improved learning.
According to Markarfi he said investing in children`s education was investing for a better future of the state.
Commissioner added that the government will continue to do its best in improving the learning environment in the over five hundred secondary schools in the state.
Markarfi further stated that government was aware of the shortage of quality teachers in public schools, adding that very soon the Teachers Service Board will conclude the recruitment of seven thousand six hundred teachers for secondary schools.
