The United Nations is appealing for over four billion dollar to fund humanitarian operations in Sudan and neighboring countries hosting refugees, describing human suffering as epic proportions in the State.
More than nine million people have been displaced by fighting between rival military leaders which began last year as Ethiopia, Chad and Egypt are struggling to support refugees from Sudan.
United Nations aid agencies claim half of the country’s population – 25 million people – is in need of assistance with Eighteen million facing acute food shortages.
