Three suspects have been apprehended by the Kwara State Police Command in connection with the alleged murder of Mr. Musibau Aliu, the Chairman of the Tricycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (TOAN), Idiose Alore.
The suspects, identified as Ibrahim Abdullahi of Medina area, Ismaila Ajirerin of Akata compound, Alore, and Adeola Adeosun of Omo compound, Eruda, all residents of Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, are currently in police custody, according to reports obtained by ROYALTIMES.
The incident was brought to light on March 10, 2024, around 10:00 a.m. when Mr. Olarenwaju Saliman, residing in Alore area, Ilorin, reported his brother’s disappearance to the authorities. Mr. Musibau Aliu had left home on March 8th, 2024, at approximately 5:00 p.m. with his tricycle for commercial purposes but failed to return home.
Despite concerted efforts to locate him, including multiple attempts to contact him via phone, Mr. Aliu remained untraceable. However, on March 10, 2024, at approximately 1:30 p.m., the police received distressing information regarding the discovery of a headless corpse in an unfinished building along Okolowo Expressway, near Daru-Salam Area.
Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement officers found a decomposing male corpse with its head, part of the buttocks, and both wrists severed. Subsequently, Mr. Saliman positively identified the deceased as his missing brother, Mr. Musibau Aliu.
Expressing condolences to the family of the deceased during this period of mourning, DSP Ejire Adeyemi Toun, the spokesperson of the Kwara State Police Command, reiterated the commitment of the command to thoroughly investigate the heinous crime and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The statement reads; “The Kwara State Police Command wish to provide an update on the ongoing investigation into a case of culpable homicide reported on March 10th, 2024, at about 10:00hrs. Mr Olarenwaju Saliman of Alorin Area, Ilorin, reported a disturbing incident involving his brother Mr Musibau Aliu at G Division, Oloje. According to Mr Saliman, his brother left home on March 8th, 2024, at around 17:00hrs, with his tricycle for commercial purposes and has since not returned home. Despite exhaustive efforts to trace him, including repeated calls to his phone number which was unanswered, Mr Aliu remained missing.
“On March 10th, 2024, at about 13:30hrs, the command received information regarding the discovery of a headless corpse in an uncompleted building along Okolowo Expressway, by Daru-Salam Area. Upon arrival at the scene, a decomposing male corpse was found with its head, part of the buttocks, and both wrists severed. It was later confirmed by Mr. Saliman that the deceased was indeed his missing brother, Mr. Musibau Aliu.”
“The deceased was identified as the Chairman of the Tricycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (TOAN), Idiose Alorin. Following swift investigation, three suspects have been apprehended in connection with this heinous crime. They are:
1. Abdullahi Ibrahim of Medina Area, Ilorin.
2. Ismaila Ajirerin, aged 38, from Akata Compound, Alorin, Ilorin.
3. Adeola Adeosun, aged 40, from Omo Compound, Eruda, Ilorin.
