Supreme Court reserves judgment on Obi’s appeal against Tinubu

written by Royal Times of Nigeria October 23, 2023

The Supreme Court has reserved judgment on Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi’s appeal seeking to invalidate President Bola Tinubu’s election.

PremiumTimes gathered that a seven-member panel of the Supreme Court headed by John Okoro made the announcement after taking arguments from lawyers to the parties on Monday.

On Monday’s proceedings, Atiku strenuously makes efforts to convince the Supreme Court to attach probate value to Mr Tinubu’s academic records he obtained from the Chicago State University (CSU) in the United States.

Meanwhile, Mr Obi’s lead lawyer, Livy Uzoukwu, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), urged the court to allow his client’s appeal.

However, Mr Tinubu’s lawyer, Wole Olanipekun, a SAN, argued that Mr Obi’s appeal lacked merit and urged the court to dismiss the appeal.

Mr. Okoro said a date would be communicated to lawyers when the judgement is ready.
