The Minister of Sports Development, John Enoh has encouraged Tobi Amusan, Ese Brume and other Nigerian athletes at the 2023 World Athletics Championship to hold their heads high and bounce back after missing out on podium finishes in Budapest.
The minister spoke with the media immediately after Tobi Amusan ran in the final of the women’s 100 metres hurdles event, losing her crown to 2015 champion Danielle Williams after finishing 6th.
On Thursday, Favour Ofili and Alaba Akintola both lost in the women’s and men’s 200 metres semifinals event respectively.
Amusan however still holds the world record in the women’s 100 metres hurdles, while Favour Ofili remains the African indoor record holder in the women’s 200 metres.
