The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture Provisions and Rural Development, Senator Saliu Mustapha, has introduced a significant amendment bill aimed at enhancing farmers’ access to agricultural land.
The bill, designed to repeal the existing National Agricultural Land Development Authority Act of 1992, successfully passed its first reading in the Senate on Wednesday.
During the session, Senate leader Opeyemi Bamidele introduced the bill, followed by the Clerk of the Senate reading its heading. Senator Saliu Mustapha, the bill’s sponsor, expressed that the proposed amendment aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda and is intended to expand the availability of land for agricultural purposes.
