The Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State has commended the lawmakers at the State House of Assembly over the impeachment of their speaker, Olakunle Oluomo.
It would be recalled that Oluomo, was impeached on Tuesday by eighteen of the twenty-six lawmakers during a plenary presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Bolanle Ajayi.
Speaking to newsmen on Saturday, the state PDP Publicity Secretary, Akinloye Bankole, described the impeachment of the former speaker as a welcome development.
According to him, Oluomo has been found wanting since the day he assumed office, saying “his removal should have come long before now.”
He said, “The removal of the former speaker, Honourable Oluomo is long overdue. That is in the sense that since he became the speaker of the House, he has been fingered several times in all manner of misappropriation.”
“His emergence after their election last year was so controversial because elected members of the Assembly preferred another person. But for the high-handedness and democratic tendency of the sinking ship called APC, they were able to force him into the house. Ordinarily, he should not be holding such a sensitive office. He was imposed on the house by the leadership of the APC and the governor of the state.”
He added that he should not be holding such a sensitive office as his emergence after the election last year was controversial because elected members of the Assembly preferred someone else.
