The Nigerian Army has drawn the attention of the Federal Government and Nigerians to plans by some groups, foreign interests to disrupt the May 29 handover and scuttle the democratic process.
Army in a statement by Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Colonel Sagir Musa on Saturday, said the “mischievous elements” had thought Nigeria would not have successful 2019 general elections but they were proved wrong.
The army said the foreign interests were working to cause disaffection and divide the Multinational Joint Task Force which was fighting the Boko Haram terrorists as well as the Islamic State for West African Province fighters, ISWAP and thereby exacerbate the security situation in Nigeria and the West African Sub-region.
Musa said these persons and groups are making concerted efforts to further induce the ISWAP, Boko Haram terrorists and bandits with funds and other logistic supports.
The Nigerian army however reiterated its unalloyed loyalty to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and said that it is determined more than ever before, to continue to uphold the constitution and defend the territorial integrity of this nation from both external and internal aggression.
