Muslim American leaders in six pivotal states have united in the #AbandonBiden campaign, pledging to mobilize their communities against President Joe Biden’s potential re-election due to his unwavering support for Israel’s actions in Gaza.
The movement originated in Minnesota when Muslim Americans demanded that President Biden call for a ceasefire by October 31. Since then, the campaign has gained momentum, spreading to Michigan, Arizona, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Florida.
In a statement to Axios, the group organizing the #AbandonBiden campaign emphasized its purpose in the context of the upcoming 2024 presidential election, citing the decision to withdraw support for President Biden due to his reluctance to call for a ceasefire and protect civilians in Palestine and Israel.
The sizable Muslim and Arab American populations in these states present a significant challenge to President Biden’s Electoral College prospects in the upcoming election if the opposition persists.
