Following the commencement of the nationwide warning strike proposed by the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC on Tuesday, mixed compliance have been noticed by workers of the labour union and its affiliates across the country.
The Chairman of the Association of Civil Servants of Nigeria, Osun chapter, Adekola Adebowale, at the Osun State Secretariat, stated that civil servants in the state are not observing the strike and blamed an information gap as the reason why most civil servants did not report for work.
Dailypost reported that in the northern part of the country, workers in Bauchi State deserted some government institutions including the Federal Secretariat, Ministry of Education, Bauchi State Water Board, Federal Inland Revenue, and special schools while the Jigawa State branch of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) shut the gates of ministries, departments, and agencies on Tuesday morning.
In the South-East, banks and petrol stations in Abia State were forced to close upon receiving information that enforcement teams of the NLC were coming to picket their premises, after offering skeletal services earlier in the day.
