Lai Mohammed denies making reference to Ilorin Emirate in his post-election remark

Lai Mohammed denies making reference to Ilorin Emirate in his post-election remark

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has clarified that his statement during the November seventeenth bye-election following the victory of the All Progressive Congress, APC, was never an attack on Ilorin Emirate, but directed at a political dynasty that had held sway for long in Kwara state.

Mohammed made the clarification in a statement issued today in reaction to accusations that he said the ‘Berlin Wall’ of the Ilorin Emirate had been broken by the outcome of the Ekiti/Irepodun/Isin/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency of Kwara State.

While denying that he mentioned Ilorin Emirate or made any reference to the traditional institution, he challenged anyone with such claim to provide it.

The minister stated that he holds the Ilorin Emirate, and indeed all traditional institutions, in very high esteem, and will never do anything to bring them to disrepute.

While urging the public to disregard such spurious reports, he however admonished those who echoed the distorted information not to allow themselves be used to denigrate the revered Ilorin Emirate.
