As Kwara State gears up for the Easter festivities, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has taken proactive measures to ensure the safety and security of residents and visitors during this period.
Commandant Umar J.G Mohammed (PhD), the Kwara State Commandant of NSCDC, has ordered the deployment of 3,300 personnel across various locations in the state.
The deployment comes in response to the anticipated increase in activities during the Easter celebration, to preempt any potential disruptions of law and order.
Commandant Umar highlighted the significance of this move, emphasizing the need for adequate protection of lives and property of law-abiding citizens in Kwara State.
The personnel deployed were drawn from various specialized units within the NSCDC, including the Armed Squad, Anti-Vandal Monitoring Unit, Special Female Squad, Intelligence department, Agro Rangers, and the Counter Terrorism Unit.
These units are strategically positioned to ensure comprehensive coverage and swift response to any security challenges that may arise.
In his directives to Area Commanders, Divisional Officers, and Heads of Tactical Units, Commandant Umar stressed the importance of deploying officers and men to key locations such as recreational facilities, churches, motor parks, and shopping complexes.
The aim is to deter mischief-makers from causing any form of mayhem and to maintain peace and order throughout the celebration period.

He underscored the importance of adhering strictly to the established rules of engagement and maintaining professionalism at all times.
Assuring residents of a smooth and trouble-free celebration, Commandant Umar urged members of the public to cooperate with the NSCDC and other security agencies by remaining law-abiding and vigilant.
