The leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress, Kwara chapter, has scheduled a meeting with members on Monday, January 20, 2024. The meeting is to brief members on the outcome of the discussion with the state government over workers’ welfare.
The labour congress met with the state government to discuss the welfare of workers in the state following the demands and threat of the union to embark on industrial action.
Speaking to RoyalTimes over the weekend, Comrade Muritala Saheed Olayinka, the NLC chairman in Kwara, said the union has concluded plans to meet with its members on Monday.
He said the essence of the meeting is to provide the members with the outcome of the meeting held with the state government over their demands.
According to a statement released by Mashood Abdulrafiu Agboola, the Deputy Chief Press Secretary to the state government, the atmosphere of the meeting was characterized by frank and open discussions.
The statement emphasized both parties acknowledged that substantial progress was achieved, due to the mutual good faith, transparency, and patriotism demonstrated by both parties.
