The Katsina Elders’ Forum has issued a stern warning to President Bola Tinubu, cautioning against the proposed relocation of critical projects, including the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport’s refurbished airport rescue and firefighting vehicles project, to the southern part of the country.
Expressing concerns about the potential socio-economic impact on Northern Nigeria, the elders urged Tinubu to reconsider the decision or risk losing support in the 2027 elections.
Aliyu Mohammed, the Secretary of the Katsina Elders’ Forum, addressed the media in Katsina after a closed-door meeting, revealing their strong opposition to the planned relocation.
As reported by Dailytrust, Mohammed disclosed that the contractor for the airport project had written to the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, requesting relocation for what the elders considered as flimsy reasons.
Accusing certain individuals of ill-advising President Tinubu, the elders labeled them as enemies of Nigeria, asserting that such decisions undermine the country’s unity.
