A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has dismissed the bail applications filed by supposed loyalists of the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, linked with the state assembly explosion.
The defendants who include, Chime Eguma Ezebalike, Prince Lukman Oladele, Kenneth Goodluck Kpasa, Osiga Donald, and Ochueja Thankgod, were alleged to have had roles in the bombing of the Rivers State House of Assembly in October 2023.
Justice Bolaji Olajuwon rejected the applications for bail by the first to third defendants who cited health conditions, stating that the defendants were charged with a capital offence, which involved terrorism and alleged murder.
Olajuwon stated that there was no evidence to the fact that the facilities at the correctional centre cannot meet the health needs of the defendants, adding that the evidence before the court showed that experts at the health centre were capable and well-equipped to manage the condition of the defendants.
The case was subsequently adjourned till February 8, 2024, for hearing.
