In a bid to end the lingering industrial action in Nigeria universities, the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP has threatened President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration with a legal action.
The Social Economic Group accused the Federal Government of violating the educational rights of poor children while children of politicians attending private universities are in school.
According to the group, lack of academic activities witnessed in public higher institutions in the country is a crime against humanity.
It is recalled that the Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU has been on strike since February 2022 due to the Federal Government’s refusal to allow ASUU to use their own generated payment platform, the University Transparency Accountability Solution, UTAS, among other demands.
