As part of efforts to assist the federal government in achieving adequate health coverage and ensure access to quality health, the Kwara state health insurance agency, under the Kwara state government today flagged off the phase two enrollment of indigent beneficiaries into the basic healthcare provision fund and Kwara care programme.
Speaking at the event, the executive secretary, Kwara state health insurance agency, Dr. Mrs Olubunmi Winter said efforts are ongoing to ensure that, the public sector and their families, numbering about one hundred and eighty-six thousand in total are not left out, in benefitting from access to quality and affordable health care services, through the provision of health Insurance cover.
According to her, this year, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq approved a total sum of one hundred and forty three million Naira, being the counterpart fund for basic healthcare provision fund program.
Speaking at the event, governor Abdulrahman who was represented by the Secretary to the state government- Mamman Jubril, said the state is enrolling twenty one thousand seven hundred and fifty indigents into free health insurance scheme . The state now has fifty one hundred, seven hundred and fifty that will enjoy free health care for 2023.
The treatment according to the governor includes diabetes, deliveries, high blood presure, emergencies, asthma .
Some providers of the scheme which include Dr Tunde, Dr Gali Shrifat, Dr Bakare Ismail revealed that the rate of patient patronage has increased since the introduction of the Kwara state health insurance scheme.
Some beneficiaries Adeyemo, Adam Balikis, Musa Zainab, Fatimoh Hammed, Bamidele Aliyu among others commended the government for the introduction of the programme.
