Fuel Subsidy: Kwara Senator Knocks Critics, Says Palliatives Meant To Alleviate Suffering On Marketers

Following criticism from some sections in the state, Senator Soliu Mustapha has knocked critics, stating that his decision to distribute palliatives to marketers is to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal.

It could be recalled that the Senator, representing Kwara Central during the week distributed palliatives to about one hundred marketers in a bid to assist the government in cushioning the effect of subsidy removal in the state.

Royaltimes reported that the decision has however been criticized by some political sections in the state, who criticized the Senator’s decision to distribute palliative in the market without notification.

Reacting to the criticism, Honourable Yusuf Olamilekan Iyemoja, who spoke on behalf of the senator, explained that the decision is to assist the government, stating that the palliative distributed by the government cannot get to all citizens.

He further explained that their decision to distribute the palliative to the marketers is born out of their determination to ensure the palliative gets to the vulnerable among the marketers.

Honourable Iyemoja called on other well-meaning Kwarans within the state to assist the government in providing palliatives to Kwarans to cushion the effect of subsidy removal in the state.
