A fire outbreak at Ile Oba-Ologun, Ita-Amodu in Ilorin West Local Government Area was successfully put out by the Kwara State Fire Service on Friday.
In a statement signed by the Service’s Head of Media and Publicity, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle and released to newsmen on Saturday, the fire gutted a building of about two flats and six rooms as a result of power surge around 5pm.
According to Adekunle, the firefighters prevented the fire from spreading further and were able to minimize the damage, resulting in other flats in the building and other properties being saved from the fire unscathed.
The Director of Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, however, urged the citizens to cultivate the habit of switching off electrical appliances when not in use, as this would help prevent the chances of fire outbreaks in various homes.
