Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the acting Director, Centre for Peace and Security Studies, Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Dr (Mrs) Ruth Abiola Adimula, has enjoined the youth not to allow members of the political class use them as stepping stones in the attainment of their electoral desires.
The Don also cautioned the young people against being turned to willing tools by politicians to incite public unrest.
Dr (Mrs) Adimula stated this at the event marking the International Day of Peace themed “End Racism. Build Peace”, which the CPSS Directorate of the first faith-based institution convened in Ilorin.
Royal Times reports that the Peace Scholar reminded the youth to tread softly and resist members of the political class, who have relocated their children abroad for studies, to weaponize them with hidden motive of actualizing their selfish end.
Dr (Mrs) Adimula, who is a renowned legal practitioner, informed that the theme of the event was chosen to dissect factors that could fast track realization of peace in the society.
Declaring the event open, the Vice-Chancellor, Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin,
Professor Noah Yusuf, said the institution decided to commemorate the global day as a way of impacting positively on the society.
