Court grants former CBN governor Emefiele twenty million naira bail

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos today granted the immediate past Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Godwin Emefiele bail.

The court granted Emefiele bail in the sum of twenty million naira and a surety in like sum.

This followed a two-count charge of illegal possession of firearm levelled against him by the Department of State Service, DSS.

Emefiele’s lawyer, Joseph Daudu, had, after his client pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge, applied for his bail, contending that the offense for which Emefiele was charged is bailable.
