Nigerians have been charged to know the importance of health Diagnosis and seek medical intervention. Chairman Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria, Kwara state Branch Ogunwale Kolawole Ayobami stated this at the weekend while speaking with newsmen on the sidelines of a medical outreach program of the association along stadium road ,Ilorin.
According to Kolawole , Diagnosis can improve the effectiveness of treatments and avoid long-term complications for an infected patient while Undiagnosed patients can unknowingly transmit diseases or Virus to others.
Deeming it fit as part of its activity for awareness and campaign, Kolawole said “the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria, Kwara state Branch has continued to embark of medical outreach and health campaign within communities in kwara state with free testing and for residents to know their health status”.
Speaking on the availability of medical experts within Nigeria ,Kolawole also lamented brain drain within the sector urging government to rise to the development rather than pay lip service .
Also speaking, a Medical laboratory scientist, Habib Yusuf who said the rate of HIV and Hepatitis B infection has increased in recent years advised Nigerian to test for HIV and Hepatitis B regularly at least twice a year. Habib informed that Hepatitis B now has a vaccine .
