Nigerians have been warned against self medication just as over five hundred indigents of the Ilorin emirates in Kwara State benefited from free medical outreach that involved medical enlightenment, diagnosing, free drugs.
Beneficiaries at Gambari in ilorin which include children, aged, women and youths were treated for various ailments such as High Blood Pressure, Malaria, deworming , coughing, diabetes among others.
Speaking with journalists , the chairman of the medical outreach committee of Ilorin emirate doctor group Dr Abolorin Ameen said the aim of the free test and free drugs is to ensure that Nigerians leave healthier following their inability to visit hospital as result of economic hardship.
While explaining that the project was jointly carried out by the foundation, in collaboration with the Joint Balogun Gambari Development Association and Ilorin Emirate Medical Doctors’ Group among others , Doctor Ameen said the project was aimed at complementing efforts of the state government at providing adequate health care services to indigenes of the state, added that it was sponsored by Alhaji Yakubu Garba Gobir, through his foundation.
She urged Kwara residents and Nigerians at large to always visit hospital before the consumption of drugs.
Also speaking, the vice presidents of the ilorin emirate medical doctors group and the chairman of the Nigeria medical Association, Kwara state branch Dr Abdulquadir Ola Ahmed said the project was meant to give back to the immediate community.
According to some beneficiaries , Mrs Osenatu Jimoh and isiaka Abdulqudir who were part of the people that enjoyed the medical assistance expressed her pleasure and satisfaction with the attention received from the medical practitioners present.
Also speaking, the spokesman of the of balogun gambari youth movement Mohammed soliu Balogun , lauded the organizers for usual support to the needy and commitment to the community development.
