The Commissioner for Information and Voter Education of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Festus Okoye, said that the commission is planning a meeting with the Central Bank of Nigeria so as to resolve issues with the storage of election materials.
It could be recalled that INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, stated that sensitive election materials would no longer be stored at the apex bank.
However, in a TV programme, Sunrise Daily, Mr Okoye warned that INEC was in for serious problems with logistics if it doesn’t have a formal agreement with the CBN over its election materials storage issues.
He also insisted that the recently concluded elections in Ekiti and Osun governorship storage measures will not be justifiable to be adopted going into the general elections in 2023.
