The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday called for the immediate release of its leaders and members in Kogi East ahead of the November 11 gubernatorial election in the state.
The call was made by the spokesman of the party’s Governorship Campaign Council and Commissioner for Information, Femi Fanwo while addressing newsmen in Ilorin, Kwara State.
Fanwo stated that some chieftains of APC in Dekina local government area were arrested for unknown reasons.
“Our chieftains were not involved in any act inimical to the peace of the state and should not have been subjected to such treatment”, he said.
The Commissioner for Information also accused the candidates of other political parties of fanning the embers of violence and division.
The Kogi Commissioner however, expressed optimism that the party’s governorship candidate, Usman Ododo will win Saturday’s election with a wide margin and while appreciating President Bola Tinubu for insisting on a credible poll, he added that the excellent performance of the incumbent Governor, Yahaya Bello would give APC a resounding victory during the election.
