The Presidency has disclosed that 2017 budget will be in effect from January 1, 2017, saying that everything has been put in place to meet the proposed commencement date.
Speaking with senate correspondents today in his office, Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters-Senate, Senator Ita Enang said the 2017 budget will be presented before the end of 2016.
Enang said the Medium Term Expenditure Framework – MTEF which is before the National Assembly was receiving considerations, and urged Nigerians to be patient with the federal government in its quest to provide food, employment and security.
He commended leadership of the senate on the speedy consideration given to correspondences from the President.
“The dexterity, speed, thorough attention, legal touch and expertise deployed by senate and its committees in considering and handling matters of the executive is worth commendations”.
Enang called on Nigerians to support the senate.
