Honorable Abdullahi Mariam Ologede, former Special Assistant to Kwara State Governor on Loan and Debt Management, has declared her interest to contest the Kwara State House of Assembly seat for Ilorin NorthWest state constituency.
Ologede is a strong member of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, and served under the immediate past Governor of the state, Abdufatah Ahmed.
She made her declaration amid cheers from loyalists and party stakeholders at the Ilorin West Local Government Party secretariat in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
The declaration comes after due consultation on her ambition to join the race for the House of Assembly representing Ilorin North West state constituency in Kwara state House of Assembly come 2023 general elections.
Speaking at the event, the party woman leader said she hopes to offer quality representation at the state assembly and use her office to seek responses to the needs of her people.
The former S.A expressed displeasure over the absence of a single woman at the present state Assembly.
While noting that the development is a setback for the efforts to seek improvement in women affairs, she urged the people of Ilorin NorthWest to support her as a capable woman to change the narrative.
Party chieftains, women and youth groups all pledged their support to Ologede to ensure she clinches the party ticket and contest for the position in 2023.
