Flying Eagles protest unpaid bonuses in Poland

Angry Flying Eagles players refused to board a flight out of Poland on Tuesday, in protest of the failure of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to pay wages and bonuses of one point seven million naira per player.

The two-time finalists were eliminated from the FIFA U20 World Cup after they fell to a 2-1 defeat against fellow West Africans Senegal in their Round of 16 encounter at the Lodz Stadium in Poland on Monday.

The players were scheduled to travel back home on Tuesday morning but missed their flight after refusing to leave their hotel until they get their bonuses.

The Nigerian football federation, NFF, has said that the team is expected to leave for Nigeria today after what they called ‘a minor delay’. It was gathered that the NFF had failed to get approval for the release of funds from the Federal Government.
