Court suspends Okah’s trial over ill health

Justice Gabriel Kolawole of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Monday suspended the trial of Henry Okah, the alleged mastermind of Abuja 2010 Independent Day bombing, pending his recovery from surgery.henry_okah

He held that the suspension would give the accused time to recover and attend his trial.

Justice Kolawole in his ruling said, “In view of the absence of the accused who had undergone a medical surgery in the National Hospital, Abuja, the trial shall be suspended till March 10 at 11:30 a.m.’’

He, however, ordered that Obi Nwabueze, standing trial alongside Okah be remanded in kuje prison and be produced at the next adjourned date.

The court had during its last sitting, ordered the Nigeria Prison Service to provide adequate security at the National hospital Abuja during the period Okah was expected to undergo surgery, adding that the accused should be produced in court on the next adjourned date.
