The vice chancellor of the University of Ilorin Professor, Abdulganiyu Ambali has assured parents of the institution’s moral standard, saying the institution will not tolerate any act of immoral behavior by both students and lecturers.
Ambali who disclosed this while fielding questions from journalists on the recent allegation of sexual harassment by a lecturer of the institution, said the committee which was set up to conduct investigation on the allegation would conclude the investigation despite the resignation of lecturer concerned.
According to the vice chancellor, investigation requires a process, anyone accused of sexual harassment will be giving room to defend himself in order not to go to back to square one if necessary investigation was not conducted.
He noted that few staff of the university had been asked to step aside based on their moral attitude especially to students.
On the current sexual harassment saga, the vice chancellor noted that the lecturer concerned has the right to resigned having met the condition of the institution.
As part of efforts to ease students’ means of reporting matters of interest to the authority, the vice chancellor explained that the institution has put in place suggestion boxes at deans offices in order to enable students express their concerns.
