The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, has conveyed his heartfelt felicitations to the Christian community within the university and across the globe in celebration of this year’s Christmas.
He also extended his advance wishes for a prosperous New Year to all Nigerians.
The official statement, signed by the University’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, emphasized the significance of the season, calling for a blend of merriment, reflection, and gratitude towards the Almighty for His boundless mercies.
Prof. Egbewole, recognizing Christmas as a commemoration of the timeless and extraordinary essence embodied by Jesus Christ, urged Christians to emulate the virtues exemplified by the Savior.
Specifically addressing the staff and students of the University, he encouraged them to embody the paragonic qualities symbolized by Christ’s birth.
Highlighting the need for Nigerians to embrace simplicity, kindness, service, peace, and humility, the Vice Chancellor emphasized that adopting these core attributes of Jesus Christ could lead to significant transformation for the nation and humanity.
In promoting unity and peaceful coexistence, Prof. Egbewole urged Nigerians, including the University community, to live harmoniously with each other and their neighbors.
He assured that the University’s administration, under his leadership, would continue to treat all members of the community with absolute respect and fairness, irrespective of their origin or religious affiliation.
As the Secretary-General of the Association of West African Universities (AWAU), Prof. Egbewole concluded by reaffirming his commitment to ensuring the welfare of the University community, promising continued efforts toward their well-being.
