An unattended electric cooker has been identified as the source of a fire outbreak adjacent to Akintade Bread in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State.
Hassan Adekunle, the Head of Department for Media and Publicity, disclosed that firefighters responded swiftly to a distress call reporting the inferno, which consumed a building comprising approximately eight rooms, with the kitchen being the area most severely affected.
Following subsequent investigations into the cause of the fire, it was determined that an electric cooker left unattended in the kitchen was responsible for igniting the outbreak.
In response to the incident, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, the Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, issued a statement urging the public to prioritize safety awareness and precautions in their daily lives.
The statement reads: “On Wednesday, March 13th, 2024, at 02:42 hours, the Kwara State Fire Service responded to a distress call reporting a fire outbreak Adjacent to Akintade Bread, Ilorin. The building affected was a storey building consisting of approximately eight rooms, with the kitchen being the most affected area.”
