Reduce inflation, economic hardship on Nigerians – Sanusi tells CB

Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Lamido Sanusi has tasked the incumbent governor, Olayemi Cardoso, to implement monetary policies to help reduce inflation and the hardships Nigerians face.

Sanusi who disclosed this in a statement on Sunday after he led the Impact Investing Community team to the CBN Headquarters, said that the activities of the apex bank can turn around the economic challenges Nigerians grapple with the right monetary policies.

He urged the leadership of CBN to do everything to reduce the economic hardship in the country.

“The Bank’s activities have a massive impact on the lives of Nigerians, and many people often do not know the impact of a Central Bank’s work until a Central Bank fails. I urged the new leadership at the CBN to work persistently at driving down the rate, which had severely impacted the wealth of individuals,” Sanusi stated.

It would be recalled that Nigeria’s inflation had continued to rise with the September figure, which stood at 26.72 percent.
