The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State on Monday commenced the electronic registration of new members in the State in line with the directive of the national leadership of the party.
Speaking with newsmen at the flag-off of the e-registration exercise in Ilorin, the state capital, Kwara State e-registration Committee chairman, Honourable Saka Babatunde, said the exercise will enable the party update its membership status in Kwara as well as draw a frame work with the data acquired.
While noting that the online registration is in line with the COVID-19 guidelines, the former Senior Special Assistant on Youth Empowerment in Kwara state, added that the exercise will also engage the youths who are vast in information communication technology, as they assist to register members in the one hundred and ninety-three wards in the state.
The National member of the e-registration committee representing Kwara, Honourable Otunba Anu Ibiwoye, said the engagement of youths to take up the task was intentional because the party aims to build the party around youths.
The State Publicity Secretary of the party, Tunde Ashaolu, emphasised that the online registration was compulsory for old and new members who intend to participate in the forthcoming local government and State congresses of the party.
The party stakeholders called on leaders and well informed members of the party to create awareness and help mobilize interested persons to take part in the registration exercise.
