In a strategic move to bolster security measures within Kwara State, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) under the leadership of Commandant Umar J.G Mohammed PhD. has commissioned a new divisional office in Ajase-Ipo town, Irepodun Local Government Area of the state.
The ceremony, which took place on Saturday, March 9th, 2024, marks a significant milestone in efforts to enhance security at the grassroots level. Commandant Umar emphasized the importance of intelligence gathering, particularly in border communities, as a proactive approach to combating crime and criminality.
Speaking at the inauguration, Commandant Umar reiterated the corps’ commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and properties of Nigerians, underscoring the significance of extending security coverage to rural areas.
He expressed gratitude to His Royal Majesty Olupo of Ajase-Ipo, Oba Barrister Ismail Yahaya Alebiosu, for his support in completing the project, as well as Prince Saliu Oniro Alebiosu, whose generous donation facilitated the establishment of the divisional office.
Prince Saliu Oniro Alebiosu emphasized the importance of investing in the safety and security of citizens, highlighting the new facility’s role in equipping NSCDC officers with modern resources to effectively execute their duties.
His Royal Highness Olupo of Ajase-Ipo echoed these sentiments, expressing confidence that the collaboration between the NSCDC and other security agencies would help curb crime in the community. He pledged continued support to ensure a conducive working environment for security personnel deployed to the area.
Representing the Governor of Kwara State, Hon. Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Usman Lade, commended NSCDC’s efforts in maintaining peace and security in the state, reaffirming the government’s commitment to supporting the corps.
The Transitional Implementation Committee (TIC) Chairman of Irepodun Local Government Area, Hon. Jide Oyinloye, lauded the NSCDC’s dedication to security management and its ongoing fight against insecurity in the state.
