Following the subsidy removal by the federal government, the National Bureau of Statistics has revealed the new Household kerosene prices surged by over fifty-seven percent, reaching one thousand and seventy-two naira per litre in August.
The NBS’ National Household Kerosene Price Watch report noted that this sharp increase from last year’s N809.52 in August 2022 highlighted escalating energy costs.
According to the report, Lagos emerged with the highest Household Kerosene prices, reaching a staggering over five thousand naira per gallon, followed closely by Katsina and Borno.
In contrast, the South-South region offered a more affordable option at three thousand seven hundred and twenty-seven naira, reflecting the diverse economic challenges faced by different regions in the country.
