Justice of the federal high court in Abuja, Anwuli Chikere, has withdrawn herself from the trial of former minister of interior, Abba Moro, citing personal reasons.
The former minister is accused of defrauding 676,675 job seekers of N676,675,000 in an immigration recruitment exercise that led to the death of at least 20 young Nigerians.
The Justice had in March granted Moro bail on self-recognition and had adjourned the case to April 27 for trial.
However, when the case was called, she announced her withdrawal from it.
“I am sending it back to the chief judge of the federal high court for reassignment on personal reasons,”Chikere said. “When it is reassigned, the prosecution can go after it.”
