Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Friday, denied an application by Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu asking it to vacate its September 26 interim order.
It would be recalled that the court had made the interim order, following an ex parte motion by the Deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, which restrained Akeredolu from nominating a new deputy governor and forwarding same to the lawmakers for approval, pending the hearing and determination of the interlocutory application.
The presiding judge, Justice Emeka Nwite, however on Friday, said in its ruling that the court lacked jurisdiction to make such a pronouncement following an application by Akeredolu’s counsel and adjourned the suit indefinitely.
According to the judge, the adjournment was due to the fact that the Speaker and the State House of Assembly had filed an appeal at the Court of Appeal in respect of the issue before him.
