Academic Staff Union of Universities urges Federal Government Not To Force Resumption With Court Order

Following a meeting with the Federal Government called by the leadership of the House of Representatives, led by the Speaker, Right Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila, the Academic Staff Union of Universities has told the Federal Government not to force lecturers back to school via court order.

This disclosure was made by the President of the union, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke after a meeting on Tuesday in Abuja.

Osodeke, after the meeting, said the union is meeting with the Ministry of Education, the Committee of Pro Chancellors and Vice-Chancellors and others before the varsity lecturers were dragged to court by the Ministry of Labour.

He said, “If the court orders the lecturers to resume academic activities today against their will, what sort of teaching do Nigerians expect them to do?
