The Diocesan Bishop of Lagos, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, The Right Reverend Doctor Humphrey Bamisebi Olumakaiye, has honoured Engineer Gbenga Adebayo with an Episcopal Award for Excellence in Service.
The thanksgiving service and Episcopal award ceremony held on Wednesday at the Our Saviour’s Church, Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos, on the sideline of the third session of the 34th Synod of the Diocese of Lagos.
The Diocesan Bishop of Lagos, awarded Adebayo alongside Lady Maiden Alex-Ibru, Mrs Esther Atinuke Coker and Mr Cornelius Taiwo Olaomo.
Also awarded posthumously were Sir Alex Uruem Ibru and Venerable Olubisi Odejimi who breathed his last on Sunday, May 02, 2021.
Rev. Dr Olumakaiye said the award is to honour the awardees for “services rendered to the Lord and humanity through the church both recently and in the past.”
Speaking on behalf of the awardees, Engr Gbenga Adebayo thanked His “Lordship, the Bishop of Lagos, and the Diocese of Lagos and Church of Nigeria for counting us worthy of the Episcopal Award.
He added that the honoured bestowed on them has “only renewed and reinvigorated our devotion to the service of God and Humanity.”
Adebayo also paid special tribute to Late Pa Odejimi, who was his father in the Lord for many years at the All Souls Church, Lekki, Lagos.
“I served as his warden for 10 years during the early days of All Souls Church, Lekki,” he said.
