Red Cross Society, Kwara Branch visit hospital, distribute items

As part of activities lined up to celebrate this year’s World Red Cross Day, the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Kwara State Branch, on Saturday, visited the State General Hospital to donate food items and toiletries to the patients.

The items were received by the Hospital Welfare officer, Mr Abdulafeez Zubair, before they were later distributed to all patients in the Hospital.

The Red Cross, Kwara Branch Secretary, Babaomo Emmanuel Ayodeji, said with the year’s theme, UNSTOPPABLE, the Red Cross hopes to continue making life better and safer for the people.

Red Cross Day is an annual program held every May eighth to commemorate the birth of the founder, Sir Jean Henry Dunant, who was born on May 8th, 1828.

Each year, the Red Cross Society organizes series of activities to highlight the unique roles of the movement in their respective Countries with the same theme.

Some of the activities held include Quiz competition, Presentation of awards, games, Workshop on psycho-social support, as well as First Aid and safety for security personnel.
