Senate begins process to confirm 27 INEC RECs

The Senate on Tuesday initiated the process of confirming the appointment of 27 resident electoral commissioners (RECs).

The lawmakers had suspended the confirmation of the RECs over the refusal of President Muhammadu Buhari to sack the acting Chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Magu.

Buhari had sent a letter requesting the confirmation of the RECs in March.

Senate President, Bukola Saraki on Tuesday initiated the process of confirming the RECs.

He referred Buhari’s letter to the committee on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)‎ for legislative treatment.

He directed them to turn out a report in two weeks.
