COVID-19: KWARA GOVT APPLAUDS MEDICAL DOCTORS ON ROLES IN COMBATING PANDEMIC

The Kwara State Government has applauded the collaborative efforts of Medical Doctors under the aegis of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) in instituting an appropriate response to combat the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq gave the commendation today at the year 2020 Physicians’ Week Symposium held by the Kwara State branch of NMA at the Doctors’ Hall in Ilorin, the Kwara State Capital.

“Considering your efforts and impact in the health care delivery of Kwara State, especially while we were actively battling the COVID-19 Pandemic, I am pleased to inform you that we are proud of you”, AbdulRazaq said.

The Governor, who was represented at the occasion by his Health Commissioner, Dr. Raji Razaq charged members of the association to sustain their impactful roles and cooperate with the state government in the bid to reposition the health sector.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Kwara State branch of NMA, Professor Babatunde Issa appreciated the governor for identifying with medical doctors and putting round pegs in round holes in the running of the State’s health care system.

Prof. Issa further appreciated the state government’s commitment at ensuring that the required sporting equipment were provided for members and interested members of the public at the recently completed NMA Sports Hall in Ilorin.

The Chairman also commended the medical personnel, who he described as frontline health workers for their immesurable contributions in making the association a part of the success story in the health sector of the state.

The keynote speaker, Professor Gordon Kayode Osagbemi appreciated the state government for being proactive in its approach to the pandemic and called for a sustained zeal in addressing the current and emerging health challenges in the state.
