The Kwara State Government has issued a stern call to residents, emphasizing the importance of maintaining clean and hygienic environments to prevent the outbreak of epidemics.
In a statement released by Yakub Aliagan, the Press Secretary for the Ministry of Environment, the government reiterated the necessity of active participation in the state’s monthly sanitation exercise.
Representing the Commissioner for Environment, Shehu Ndanusa Usman, the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Afusat Ibrahim, highlighted concerns regarding the increasing number of environmental offenders.
Ibrahim emphasized that the monthly sanitation initiative is mandatory for all residents of Kwara State, designed to foster cleanliness and prevent the spread of diseases within communities.
The government’s stance was clear: strict enforcement of environmental laws will be implemented, with no leniency towards violators. Offenses such as indiscriminate dumping of refuse and other sanitation-related transgressions will face sanctions without exception.
Residents were urged to adhere to established environmental regulations diligently. Additionally, active participation in the sanitation exercise was encouraged, involving the cleaning of both residential and business premises. The collective effort of residents was underscored as crucial in maintaining a healthy and safe living environment for all.
