Long queues have reportedly surfaced at filling stations across Lagos and Ogun states as motorists scramble to obtain Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol.
Petroleum marketers attribute the shortage to a lack of supply, while the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPC) confirms the absence of products at its Apapa depots.
Reports from various parts of Lagos and Ogun states reveal the resurgence of fuel queues, causing traffic congestion and inconvenience to commuters.
In response to the crisis, the NNPC acknowledged the queues at its retail stations, attributing the shortage to a lack of products at its Apapa depots.
However, the Major Energies Marketers Association of Nigeria (MEMAN) cited low stock levels over the Easter weekend as a contributing factor, leading to outages in some retail outlets. MEMAN assured the public that supplies had resumed and efforts were underway to stabilize the distribution process.
