A boat ferrying 100 passengers, along with goods and grains, capsized in Niger State, leaving an uncertain number of casualties and survivors in its wake.
The Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA) received a distressing report of the boat mishap, confirming that the tragic event unfolded in the Borgu Local Government area of the state.
According to reports, the Director-General of NSEMA, Alhaji Abdullahi Baba-Arah, disclosed the incident in a somber statement released in Minna on Monday.
The boat mishap occurred on Monday afternoon, originating from Dugga Mashaya in Dugga ward and heading towards Wara market in Kebbi State.
The ill-fated boat was reported to be carrying approximately 100 passengers, in addition to a cargo of goods, grains, and other valuables.
As at press time, the emergency agency has been unable to confirm the exact number of casualties and survivors from the unfortunate accident.
