In commemoration of world environmental day, which is celebrated on 5th of June annually, Residents of Kwara state have being called to adopt proper and legal means of disposing waste.
Secretary of Kwara State Environment Protection Agency, Mrs Idayat Adeola Folorunsho made this known today while speaking with RoyalFM correspondent, Opeyemi Akeredolu.
She stated that improper waste disposal leads to air pollution, outbreak of harmful disease, erosion, flooding hereby leading to loss of property amongst others.
Folorunsho noted that the government of Kwara state are intentional about the health of its citizens, adding that waste management teams have been assigned to every area in Kwara state.
She urged the residents to patronize this agency which will ensure that wastes are disposed of approximately and legally.
