The Acting Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh has reiterated the need to empower more women for Nigeria to attain sustainable socio-economic development.
Professor Jimoh who made this statement at a Lecture organised by the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN), Kwara State Chapter, as part of their annual FOMWAN week programme, called on government at all levels “to ensure women continue to have access to the resources and opportunities they need to achieve self-sustainability and improved well-being”.
Professor Jimoh, who was the Chairman of the occasion, noted that women are the backbone of every family saying “a strong family unit is the foundation of a healthy and prosperous society”.
In her remarks the Ameerah of Kwara State Chapter of the FOMWAN, called on philanthropic individuals in the society to “help brilliant girls and boys achieve their life ambitions through bursary awards and sponsorships into professional and technical courses in higher institutions.
