Senate gives Osinbajo two-week ultimatum to submit budget of thirty-one agencies

The Senate has ordered 31 revenue-generating agencies in the country to stop further spending, pending the submission of their budgets to the National Assembly. This followed a motion by the Deputy Senate Leader, Bala Na’Allah, during plenary today.

Na’allah said the non-compliance is an economic sabotage aimed at frustrating the government. Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, criticized the agencies for disregarding the Constitution by spending trillions of naira without appropriation.

The Senate also gave Acting President Yemi Osinbajo two weeks ultimatum to ensure the submission of the budgets of the agencies, including the Nigerian Customs Service, Nigerian Ports Authority, Nigerian National Petroleum Commission.
